How Groove’s Journey Began

JENNIFER “BIRD” ALDORETTA, FOUNDER

I’ve walked a long, bumpy path to (re)discover the true meaning of health and wellness. When I founded Groove in 2013, my journey was only beginning. Since then, I’ve reversed a lifetime of severe period and reproductive issues, transitioned off hormonal birth control, learned to love my body exactly the way it is, overcome chronic digestive issues, risen above depression and anxiety, healed severe childhood and inter-generational trauma, trained as a trauma-informed yoga, meditation, and breathwork facilitator, undergone a spiritual awakening, reconnected with my Native American roots and began training as a traditional Medicine Woman, and have truly found joy and wholeness in my life.

I never dreamed that creating Groove would lead me to fully and unconditionally loving myself — all because I noticed an unmet need for real, fearless menstrual education.

Groove is a space for women to (re)discover wholeness from within. That we needn’t to rely on doctors, pills, and things outside of ourselves to find healing and joy. Groove ignites wholeness — in body, mind, and spirit.

A healer is not someone who heals you. A healer is someone who holds space for you while you awaken your inner healer, so that you may heal yourself.

Groove is different… seriously.

Being a small company used to feel like a disadvantage — Groove never sought outside investment or built a huge team. After starting Groove, I worked in the tech industry for nearly a decade helping build and sell companies, and I’ve seen first-hand how much things change when you have investors and a board of directors pushing you to increase revenue at all costs.

Companies may mean well, but it’s impossible to embody your values and truly serve people when there’s so much pressure to grow, grow, grow and make money, money, money.

Because I kept Groove small, I have the freedom to keep doing what I built Groove to do: help women find real healing and wholeness. No tricks. No gimmicks. No marketing manipulation. No sneakily selling your data to make money. Values and people come before profit, forever.

What are people saying about Groove?

THANK YOU SO MUCH for making this! I have no idea why it’s always so hard to find comprehensive info online about vag-related issues. IT’S SO FRUSTURATING!

— JORDEE S.

It’s amazing to me that women, including myself, have such a hard time trying to educate themselves on what's normal with their own bodies. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for.

— QAVENUQ

Thank you so much for this! I don’t understand why it’s so difficult to find information on the menstrual cycle.

— DOMINIKA D.

This was absolutely amazing. You just cleared up loads up confusion I've struggled with for YEARS. I can't even tell you how thankful I am!
